PRESS RELEASE | Hogansville Police Officer Arrested

On February 2, 2018 the Hogansville Police Department was notified by the Coweta County Sheriff’s Department that one of its sworn officers was the subject of an active criminal investigation in their jurisdiction.

 

The officer, Daniel William Kemp, was taken into custody at the Hogansville Police Department by Coweta County Sheriff’s Deputies. Per Hogansville Police Department policy, Officer Kemp was immediately relieved from duty and placed on administrative leave, pending the outcome of an internal affairs inquiry. During the administrative investigation, Officer Kemp’s assigned take-home patrol car was inspected, and several items of property were recovered, including a clear plastic bag of suspected marijuana.

 

On February 8, 2018, Officer Kemp resigned from the Hogansville Police Department. The officer’s resignation was reported to the Georgia Peace Officers Standards and Training Council as Resigned under Investigation. He has been employed with HPD since February 2016.

 

The Hogansville Police Department has consulted with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation regarding this investigation.  Members of the news media are requested to contact the Coweta County Sheriff’s Department at (770) 253-1502 for any additional information concerning their arrest.
