Hogansville Police Department - COMMUNICATIONS
OFFICERThe City of Hogansville Police Department has immediate openings for the position of Communications Officer. This position serves as the critical link between the public and emergency responders by receiving emergency and non-emergency calls, dispatching police officers, and coordinating communication during emergency situations. Essential Duties- Receives,
monitors, and dispatches radio communications traffic for emergency and
non-emergency situations.
- Receives and screens all incoming telephone calls from the public and other public safety agencies; categorizes and prioritizes calls.
- Dispatches the appropriate emergency personnel to incident locations.
- Assists
the public by providing directions and information.
- Maintains
a continuous log of incoming radio calls.
- Monitors and routes incoming messages from national and state computer networks; enters and removes information as requested into NCIC and GCIC networks, including information on missing persons and stolen articles; validates information as required.
- Assists officers on duty by using the GCIC and NCIC computers to run criminal and license histories and relaying messages.
- Enters such information to the computer as dispatch information, traffic citations, police reports, and cases.
- Monitors, operates and manages complex communications and computer equipment.
- May
perform miscellaneous duties such as entering data from police reports to
computer, assisting in the bonding process, accepting and receipting money for
accident and incident reports, and others.
- Serves citizens by coordinating utility re-connections when City Hall is closed.
- Notifies employees in Public Utilities when citizens have needs for water or electrical service during hours when City Hall is closed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School education of GED and one to two years’ experience. Equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Possession of or ability
to readily obtain GCIC/NCIC certification.
- Employee must be able to successfully complete the Basic Communications Certification course as approved by Georgia Peace Officers Standards and Training within six (6) months of employment.

Hogansville Police Department - P.O.S.T Certified Police OfficerThe City of Hogansville Police Department is looking for a dynamic police officer to be responsible for the enforcement of federal,
state, and local laws and the protection of life and property. Responsibilities
include patrolling assigned zones, responding to calls, serving criminal court
papers, providing first aid and CPR, provide traffic control, testify in
judicial proceedings, complete all required reports and forms and perform other
related duties as assigned.To be successful as a police officer you
should be able to perform a broad range of responsibilities and establish a
relationship of trust among the members of your department and community. Duties include:- Enforcing laws
- Ensuring the safety and security of the public
by responding to emergencies, providing assistance to victims, and reducing or
preventing involvement in crime
- Building relationships with the community while helping to contribute to the health and safety of vulnerable populations through community policing.
- Creating community awareness by using crime
prevention methods or intervention initiatives
- Conducting investigations by interviewing
suspects, witnesses, and collecting evidence at crime scenes
- Participating in and testifying at court
hearings when required
- Processing incident reports with accurate
detail and factual information.

Knowledge of criminal and traffic investigation techniques and procedures.
- Knowledge of the geography and streets of the city.
- Skill in CPR techniques, operating police vehicles, firearms, computers, and emergency equipment.
Officers must be capable of working night shift, weekends,
and holidays. Minimum Qualifications:- Must be a P.O.S.T. certified peace officer in the State of
Georgia, and in good standing.

Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles
relevant to the major duties of the position usually associated with the
completion a Georgia P.O.S.T. approved police academy or having a similar
position for one to two years.

Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license

Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills associated with a high school education.
Job Type: Full-time Pay: $27.51 per hour for P.O.S.T. certified officers with 2 or more years’ experience. Benefits:- Take home patrol vehicle
